Westchester Senior Home Care was created with three goals:

  • to support adult children as they deal with the sometimes complex demands of aging parents,

  • to help those parents navigate the often challenging art of aging gracefully, and,

  • to provide assistance in hiring a competent and compassionate caregiver when needed.

I have always been passionate about service and I have learned that to be of best service, we need to be effective communicators. Before creating Westchester Senior Home Care, I worked for ten years as a Communication Consultant. I understand the challenges we all face in communication and more importantly the distinct challenges that Seniors face. It is one of the reasons I have been so successful with my clients, their caregivers and their adult children; I encourage frequent and honest communication so that expectations are realistic and misunderstandings are infrequent and short-lived.

I am often asked why I shifted my career to focus mainly on Seniors. Well, all I can say is that I have always loved spending time with the elderly. So many of them have the wisdom of years and stories that delight and teach. I loved spending time with my grandparents when I was young, and much of the volunteer work I have done over the years has been focused on the elderly. I was very fortunate that my parents had truly wonderful caregivers for their last years—people who became “family” to all of us. It was out of the sum of all those experiences that I initially created The Helping Hand, a concierge service for the elderly; it soon became clear that not only was there a great need for this concierge service, but also for a caregiver placement service. Westchester Senior Home Care was born.

I feel strongly that older adults should be able to age wherever they wish, be it in their home or in a community of other seniors. I believe they, just like everyone, deserve to be  treated with dignity and compassion, and that their desire to remain independent be honored. To safely stay in their home, however, often requires extra help: cooking, personal care, taking their medications on time, house cleaning, running errands, managing things that used to be easy—all can become much more challenging and/or impossible as the natural process of aging evolves.

I have lived for over 20 years in Pound Ridge, New York, with my husband and have three adult children. I received my MSW from Smith College School of Social Work. I am a Professional Member of ALCA – a national organization of Aging Life Care professionals who are focused on providing the highest standard of care for the elderly, and I am also a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA)® and a Certified Dementia Care Practitioner.

“It was definitely a pleasure working with you. Honestly, I don’t know what would have happened had we not met you. Thank you for helping us understand the extent of her condition and for bridging the gap until we arrived—and of course, for everything since. Talk about karma. Gary and I appreciate you so much and are so thankful for your help, your advice and your kindness to us and my aunt.”
